This event is joint with the Fordham Real Estate Institute Student Association (FREISA). |
Join us for this LAI MEMBERS ONLY walking tour to learn about the redevelopment of the Gowanus Canal Neighborhood. Starting in 2010, clean up of the canal was initiated (though is still ongoing), and the neighborhood was rezoned for residential. Today, it is an up-and-coming Brooklyn community.
The group tour will be followed by an informal networking social at:

Sagi, AIA, isSenior urban design leader with more than a decade of experience advancing neighborhood planning, zoning strategy, and public realm transformation in New York City. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor for Urban Design at the NYC Department of City Planning. He leads the urban design strategy for major rezonings and citywide planning initiatives, helping enable over 42,000 new housing units, including more than 13,000 permanently affordable homes, while advancing infrastructure, public space, and climate resilience investments. He also serves as a lecturer and studio coordinator at Columbia University GSAPP, and is a frequent speaker and juror at national and international urban design forums.

Natalia is a Design and Construction Project Manager at Domain Companies, a real estate developer based in New York City. She oversees the full design and construction process for Domain’s development projects, with primary responsibilities spanning contractor and consultant oversight, schedule and budget management, and investor relations. At Domain, Natalia has been an integral part of the team bringing 420 Carroll St in Gowanus to completion. Prior to joining Domain, Natalia accumulated two years of experience as a Design and Construction Manager at Pace University and Twitter. Before transitioning into development, she spent seven years as a structural engineer at Thornton Tomasetti, giving her a deep technical foundation that informs her work at every stage of a project. Natalia holds a Master of Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor of Engineering from The Cooper Union.
