On February 19, 2025 we had the pleasure of hosting Fred Harris, the Executive Vice President of Multifamily Development at Vornado Realty Trust. Mr. Harris played a key role in shaping New York City’s housing landscape over his distinguished 30-year career. Fred took us on a vivid journey through his many projects, including those when at the MTA and the NYC Housing Authority. He provided valuable insights into how his engineering background, combined with a law degree, allowed him to navigate complex transactions to bring his projects to fruition. Fred also discussed how city policies like real estate tax rates and zoning, and land use regulations impact housing supply. The discussion was both engaging and nostalgic, as LAI members and guests shared their own experiences in the field.
